Das Bild zeigt das Isergebirge im Nebel. Das Gebirge (tschechisch: Jizerské hory, polnisch: Góry Izerskie) liegt in Tschechien und Polen. Der Maler Veit Krauß absolvierte seine akademische Ausbildung in Düsseldorf. Anfang der 1920er Jahre war er in den grafischen Werkstätten in Großschönau beschäftigt. Krauss wohnte in Hörnitz bei Zittau. Seine Ehefrau stammte aus Spitzkunnersdorf.
